Merrily On Their Way To Somewhere!

With all of its misery and sorrow, India is a land where bright smiles abound. Especially when encountering a foreign face on a street or roadway, they are intrigued by those they meet on life's journey.

I do enjoy seeing the smiles. The children in particular seem oblivious that they are living in squalor and sadness. They just seem to enjoy life for what it is - a gift to be lived to the fullest!

The ox carts are everywhere in India. In the cities, on the country roads, and certainly they are on all of the winding, dusty trails all over the countryside. Above in the photo is a happy family traveling down the roadway going... well, going somewhere! I'm not exactly sure where they were going.

That's what bothers me. You pass hundreds, even thousands in a single day almost every day in India. And everyone is going somewhere. But where are they going? Where will they spend eternity? That's the difficult part of ministry in any part of the world. You can be overwhelmed by the mass of humanity that is sadly plunging headlong into eternity without hope.

A song that I don't hear much anymore expresses well the issue that we all need to face.  You must face it for yourself and we must face it when we consider all those that God brings into our lives on a daily basis.

I.  Just one life to live on earth and it swiftly passes by,
From the moment of our birth 'til the time has come to die.
God has given us the choice to decide our destiny.
In a million years, where will you be?

Chorus:
Where will you be a million years from now?
Will you be happy, will you be singing?
While ages roll throughout eternity, I ask this question,
           "Where will you be?"

II.  In the Bible we are told of the day that soon will come.
When the people of the earth will be gathered 'round God's
           throne.
When you stand before the King there for all the world to see,
Will He say, "Well done?" Where will you be?

I wonder where all the bright smiles will be on that great day? What will be the end for those who do not know God? My heart grieves because countless men, women and children still have no idea where their life's journey will take them.

Thank you, dear friend, for praying for India and the millions of lost souls that are going somewhere, although they do not know where. Thank you for your love for the harvest of souls not only in India, but around the world. May God bless you abundantly as you consider the question, "Where will you (and they) be a million years from now?"
